IFPTI has a mission, to protect public health and the global food supply by building workforce capacity through collaborations with industry, academia, governments, and other organizations. IFPTI builds competency-based training and certification systems throughout the world for public and private sector food safety professionals.

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Online Learning Developer (eLearning Developer) is responsible for all aspects of eLearning development, consulting, and troubleshooting with internal stakeholders for the International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI). The candidate will work within Lectora to create/edit online courses, adding interactions, adding video/audio which meet learning objectives, and ensuring accessibility but other eLearning development tools might be used in the future.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work daily at an advanced proficiency with various versions of Lectora (current versions used 18 &19).
  • Will work on a regular basis with SCORM/LMS workflow.
  • Assist with creativity and use appropriate technologies to engage learners in an eLearning environment.
  • Work daily and collaboratively with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project teams.
  • Assist with developing project timelines.
  • Stay informed of trends in eLearning design.
  • Stays current on upgrades, bugs, and features.  The eLearning Developer is expected to be the expert troubleshooter and connect with various vendors for support if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Web UX Design, eLearning Development, or Instructional Design.
  • Two years of eLearning design development required. 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience in Lectora (currently 18 & 19) and willing to learn other versions as needed.
  • Strong proficiency with an eLearning tool (i.e., Captivate, Articulate).
  • Experience with building 508 Compliant interactions (specific 508 application training provided).
  • Development expertise in an eLearning environment.
  • Basic proficiency with: Javascript, CSS, HTML.
  • Basic proficiency with: Adobe Photoshop.
  • Average proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Must have basic proficiency with Camtasia and/or some type of video editing software.
  • Basic proficiency with Audition, Audacity and/or audio editing software.
  • Must be comfortable with learning new technology, 360 cameras, and VR type technologies.
  • Some basic understanding of adult learning theory.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively in a challenging, collegial, and evolving environment.
  • Ability to organize multiple projects and meet evolving deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a culture of constant change.
  • Must be a self-starter, requiring a minimum of direction for completing assignments or troubleshooting issues.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and train others.
  • Proficiency with Windows, MS Word, SharePoint, and other applicable software.
  • Basic proficiency with MS Teams, Zoom, and other online meeting software.

Nice to Have Skill Sets:

  • Programming: ASP, PHP, Perl. Ruby, Python, jQuery.
  • Basic Proficiency: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere.
  • Basic Proficiency: Adobe Captivate, or other eLearning application.
  • Web UX Design Experience.
  • LMS Administration Experience.
  • Working with government agencies.
  • Food safety experience.

Additional Information

Physical Factors/Working Conditions: 

Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.  Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking and light lifting up to 25 lbs.
