Job Description

Position Summary:

The Technical Operations Administrator (Information Technology, IT) will be reporting to the Executive Director for the International Food Protection Training Institute (“IFPTI”). The Technical Operations Administrator is responsible for administering all computer information systems, providing end user support, and must be capable of offering solutions and strategizing all IT infrastructure.

**The ideal candidate must be available to work out of the Kalamazoo/Portage MI home office.

**The Technical Operations Administrators role is a mix of: Entry Level IT work to Director of IT Level work. 

**No direct reports. This is a "hands on" role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

·       Planning, implementing, documenting, and maintenance of technology infrastructure services, servers, and server operating environment based on industry best practices.

·       Develop an IT disaster recovery and business continuity plan, including restoration planning, testing, and implementation of respective plans.

·       When assessing current and future needs, look for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness via cost effective computer information systems.

·       Monitor and ensure network and system security.

·       Keep abreast of computer information field development and make recommendations for appropriate updates, upgrades, and new technology.

·       Assist with company web design and website elements.

·       Provide technical support, training, end user support and guidance regarding learning management system (LMS).

o   Interfaces with client customers to determine course requirements.

o   Provides customer service to clients with system support questions and concerns.

·       Provide design direction for IFPTI system integration and participant portals.

·       Provide technical support, training, and guidance with the IFPTI participant portals.

·       Systems record management and report generation.

·       Respond to high priority requests when needed.

·       Strategically evaluate the future needs for database utilization and integration with LMS/Data Management systems (DMS) systems.

·       Attend all planning meetings to gather needed information for current and future related systems administration.

·       Recommend appropriate schedules for equipment maintenance, upgrade and replacement.

·       Oversees the maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of all licenses, IT contracts, and network and server related equipment; including age, replacement cycle and replacement cost.

·       IT policy and procedure development and maintenance.

·       Responsible for budgeting, presenting proposals to leadership, and purchasing for infrastructure hardware and solutions, as well as associated support and maintenance plans.

·       Supervise database, server, network, and telecommunications administration and optimization.

·       Participates in leadership meetings and provides IT insight.

·       Must be willing to be hands-on with all work as the position does not have any direct reports.

·       Other duties assigned as the organization evolves over time.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer (or Business) Information Systems, or related field required.

·       Minimum of five (5) years applicable experience required; eight (8) plus years preferred.

·       Experience with systems administration, programming, and system analysis highly preferred.

·       Must be highly proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and the following applications:

o   Window Server Tools – Active Directory

-          Applications:

–         DMS: must have knowledge of Visual Studio. Capability to read codes and make changes.  

–         LMS: Knowledge of Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). Capability to read codes and make changes.    

–         SharePoint: Create sites for document sharing, manage the platform, etc.

–         Website: Create interactive web applications with SQL database as the backend engine.

o   Ability to customize these programs to meet evolving business needs.

o   Understand and manage security access levels for each program.

o   Ability to research, recommend, and teach end users on the effective and efficient use each program/application listed above.

Additional Information

Physical Factors/Working Conditions: 

Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.  Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking and light lifting up to 25 lbs.
