Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Accounting, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for leading the HR functions for the Institute. This work includes being the gatekeeper for incoming talent, supporting the HR needs of existing employees, promoting a positive work culture, ensuring compliance with application employment regulations, and partnering with leadership to resolve employee concerns.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages the life-cycle of the recruitment process to include: Working with the hiring manager to identify the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, sourcing and recruiting, screening, and hiring successful candidates.
  • Leads and facilitates the new hire orientation process for employees. Reviews the handbook and related policy documents with new employees. Ensures that the home department develops an orientation work schedule and that the new employee experiences a positive onboarding experience.
  • Conducts exit interviews with employees. Documents results and shares with leadership. Monitors trends and makes recommendations for policy and cultural changes as appropriate.
  • Uses ADP to process payroll, adjust compensation, and track employee work hours.
  • Partners with the Office Manager to review benefit program options. Benchmarks options with industry standards and recommends changes as necessary.
  • Provides answers to benefit questions being mindful of HIPAA requirements.
  • Works with the Office Manager to ensure that employees are accurately enrolled in benefit programs in a timely manner. Leads the open enrollment process.
  • Investigates and responds to unemployment, worker’s compensation, and other employment related claims. Accurately represents the organization, provides documentation, and presents at hearings as necessary.
  • Maintains personnel files and related documentation; responds to requests for employment verification.
  • Administers the employee handbook, communicates changes/additions to employees, and distributes updated handbook information, as needed.
  • Researches current data, trends, and best practices and makes appropriate recommendations for improvements.
  • Conducts anti-harassment and discrimination training for new employees and staff.
  • Attends HR seminars and conferences to stay current and knowledgeable in industry trends.
  • Facilitates conflict resolution measures and corrective action/discipline processes, as needed.
  • Administers the performance management system.
  • Works with employees and leaders to evaluate current capabilities and as well as organizational needs. Assists in the creation of employee development plans, and supports the development of the organization over time.
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business, or related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources required.
  • Professional HR certification preferred.

  • Must be proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
