The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI), located in Battle Creek, MI, is seeking an Instructional Designer - Technical Writer.
IFPTI is a model for private-public partnerships that address public health needs and collaborates with industry, academia, federal, state and international governments, and other organizations. IFPTI builds competency-based training and certification systems for U.S. and international public- and private-sector food safety professionals. The training is designed around curricula frameworks that are aligned with workforce competencies from the food protection community.

Job Description
- Writes content for training courses. Ensures that content is consistent, accurate, and supports the learning objectives.
- Develops training materials including instructor guides, participant guides, PowerPoint presentations, job aids, self-paced eLearning, and blended delivery.
- Crafts comprehensive storyboards to create high quality learning programs (to include an appropriate mix of media such as graphics, animation, audio, and video).
- Develops course assessments.
- Works with subject matter experts to design and develop course content per client requirements ensuring the quality and accuracy of all course materials.
- Ensures high quality course deliverables that are produced within stated timelines.
- Executes project plans and ensures established design standards and requirements are met.
- Reviews feedback provided regarding content effectiveness for purposes of identifying and implementing improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience working on a small project team and working with a project lead to manage timelines, scope, and resources.
- Target and deadline driven, ability to work effectively within time constraints while still delivering complete and high quality training materials.
- Must be able to collaborate in a team environment.
- Excellent written communication skills (i.e., technical, grammar, and soft skills).
- Excellent verbal communication skills to consult with Subject Matter Experts, clients, and Project Management Team.
- Proficiency in Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in Instructional Design methodologies is a plus.
- Experience with eLearning authoring tools (i.e., Creative Suite, Lectora, Captivate, Articulate) or the ability to learn these is a plus.
