IFFR is one of the largest audience and industry-driven film festivals in the world. The festival offers a high quality line-up of carefully selected fiction and documentary feature films, short films and media art. During twelve festival days, hundreds of filmmakers and other artists from all over the world present their work to a large audience (327,000 admissions and around 2,400 film professionals in 2019). IFFR actively supports new and adventurous filmmaking talents through numerous film industry initiatives, including the co-production market CineMart and its Hubert Bals Fund. The 49th edition of IFFR will take place from 22 January until 2 February 2020, and will be organised by a team of 45 permanent employees, 120 freelancers, and over 900 volunteers.

Intern Volunteer Coordination

Job Description

The volunteer coordination department is responsible for the recruitment, selection, scheduling and coordination of over 900 volunteers. They are the primary contact for volunteers within IFFR and organise all sorts of fun activities during the festival. Working together with practically every department within the organisation, you’ll get a good look at how the various departments work together in organising the festival.

What will you be doing?

Your role will consist of a combination of HR and production related tasks, including:

  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of volunteers
  • Creating schedules and communicating these to the volunteers and staff
  • Facilitating good communication between volunteers and coordinators/office during the festival
  • Assist with the organisation of logistics of volunteers, catering and materials
  • Support the administration in relation to volunteer production
  • Reporting on progress to the volunteer coordinators
  • Assist with any additional tasks relating to the volunteer coordination department

Qualifications

Who are you?

  • You have excellent organisational skills
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, knowledge of Dutch and/or other languages is helpful but not a necessity
  • You’re passionate about IFFR and/or film
  • You’re a team player and able to show initiative

Additional Information

When?
The internship will run for roughly 4 months (preferably 28 October 2019 - 22 February 2020). You’ll be working 4 days a week in November and fulltime from December onwards.

Compensation:
Based on a fulltime internship contract, you’ll receive a €300,- compensation per month.
