Job Description

Are you a Visual Designer with a passion for creating intuitive, visually appealing and accessible interfaces — all while ensuring a delightful user experience that makes people feel right at home? We’re on the lookout for a creative Visual Designer who’ll drive the user interfaces and visual design of our digital products and experiences for our many users. Your ability to work in a collaborative environment and jump into existing product processes is just as important as your visual design skills - so bring your teamwork A-game! 

As a Visual Designer part of Data & Technology, you will be collaborating with a team of experienced and talented designers, engineers, and product leaders to shape the creative direction of the software and it’s connected experiences with your exceptional ideas, visualization of concepts, interactions, animations and easy-to-use experiences. By incorporating the unique IKEA brand into your solutions, you'll help shape the experience of our users at every touchpoint. You'll be the one who challenges every detail, because you know that details ensure we’re delivering high-quality, intuitive, digital experiences that feel like IKEA. 

In this role you will: 

  • Design visually appealing, intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use experiences for internal and external digital products. 
  • Collect input about user needs, business needs and technological capabilities from stakeholders. 
  • Visualize concepts, prototypes and ideas to showcase potential future solutions. 
  • Design, define and control visual elements and interactive properties for digital products. 
  • Understand and secure IKEA tone-of-voice through iconography, typography, imagery, color, motion and layout. 
  • Contribute to the IKEA digital design language, through the SKAPA design system, and custom UI elements. 
  • Translate data into instantly recognizable and understandable information for end users. 
  • Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and other designers, to secure a consistent experience. 
  • Ensure that the end-user experiences are world-class and deliver towards user outcomes as agreed with Business Owners and Product Leaders. 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we expect you have 

  • Proven track record of designing brand identities, design systems, and web or mobile applications, or other software experiences for launched digital products. 
  • Figma knowledge at a very high level. 
  • Experience with digital products and design systems that are easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. 
  • Interaction Design, Graphic Design or similar higher-level design education.  
  • Knowledge of User Experience Flows. 
  • An understanding of digital design patterns and Web/Mobile design standards. 
  • Thorough understanding of Digital Accessibility and WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards. 
  • Has good experience and track record of using motion design tools. 
  • Can demonstrate a well organised and structured workflow.
