This job is in the IKEA unit responsible for developing, delivering and managing the digital offering for IKEA retailers worldwide, Retail Operation Solution and Support (ROSS). We are at the beginning of the incredible journey of replacing our current digital offering, by developing a new global and future-proof one. The new digital offering will be developed in partnership with the IKEA retailers and to create a unique customer experience by combining user-friendly tools, the latest technologies, and our deep IKEA business knowledge. We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team at Retail Operation Solution and Support -  Inter IKEA Retail Concept Operation. As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial working in one of several platform teams that are focusing on delivering platform solutions that build up our core digital retail offer. 

The Inter IKEA Core digital retail offer is a set of standardized and well-established tools, digital products and services tailored for the IKEA retail business and available to all IKEA retailers. This Retail Package is built based on a “best of breed” approach with Microsoft applications at the core with integrations for data distribution to Inter IKEA range and supply IT system landscape. 

 
Our base platforms currently consist of a retail operations module (Master Version Business Central) based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and LS Central, a business intelligence application (Master Version Qlik Sense), based on Qlik Sense, a Customer Relations Management module (Master Version CRM), based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and an azure component based platform for DCX products such as cart & checkout, profile pages, etc.  

For this to work in an IKEA context we also have several integration platforms that exchange data between the franchisor Inter IKEA range and supply systems and franchise retailer mentioned systems. 

We are now starting a journey to replace Business Central and LS Central as our base ERP retail operations solution with D365 Finance & Operation, D365 Commerce, D365 Customer Engagement, D365 Field service and different power platform apps. 

To support in in this transition, we will increase in number of enabling platforms and therefor are looking for an additional platform specialists/engineer 

Job Description

Job specific key tasks, responsibilities & needed motivation: 

  • Developing, running, monitoring and supporting software for the assigned Platform, Product or Service using the right toolsets required and applying Inter IKEA Software Security Directives, in order to deliver according to requirements and compliance. 
  • Synchronise software design and architecture by aligning with stakeholders in order to ensure expected outcomes. 
  • Lead and promote good software engineering practices within an agile/iterative development approach in order to improve time to market and fulfill business needs. 
  • Support in onboarding, coach and mentor other platform engineers in order to secure transfer of competence and a high performing team. 
  • Design and educate other engineers in ways of working, encouraging good practices to meet consumer expectations on Product or Service delivery. 
  • Take responsibility for cooperation and alignment with key stakeholders within Inter-IKEA Systems with interdependencies towards Group Digital to develop Product/Service design and technical roadmaps. 
  • Lead and support in change activities in different environments in order to secure functionality and availability. 
  • Identify, continuously explore and evaluate new technologies and benchmark against industry standards, in order to boost innovation and productivity for optimisation/modifications to the current design. 
  • Produce all required design specifications and ensure that Platforms, Products or Services are aligned, by also supporting team members and working closely together cross-functions to ensure end-to-end business delivery.

You will be responsible for assisting the organization in continuing to implement data distribution together with other parties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in platform engineering and a proven track record in leading successful engineering initiatives. Additionally, you should possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, as you will work closely with various teams across the organization.   

To be successful in this role, the following knowledge, skills and experiences would be valuable:   

  • Solid experience of platforms, architecture, and information management.   
  • Experience of IT service operations, including release management.   
  • Understanding of OKRs and other metrics and how they would be used to track value delivered in an agile organization.   
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including active listening and the ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.   
  • A solid understanding of end-to-end digital product development and operations expertise.   
  • Extensive experience in agile frameworks and practices, as well as DevOps ways of working and traditional product and project delivery methods.   
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering principles.  
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering practices using industry standard toolsets.  
  • Broad knowledge of working in agile/iterative.  
  • Software development teams and with agile development practices. 
  • Strong knowledge of design and architecture concepts (i.e. microservices).  
  • Strong knowledge of the assigned technology of the area and related Products or Services. 
  • Strong knowledge in coaching techniques. 
  • Good knowledge of IKEAs corporate identity, core values and vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people. 
  • Solid understanding of IKEA IT landscape from an integration and data distribution perspective.  

Additional Information

This fulltime permanent role (40 hours per week) is based in Malmö, Sweden, within the IKEA Retail concept at Inter IKEA Systems - ROSS. Willingness to travel based on business needs. You'll report directly to the Business Operations Manager.
