Job Description

Within Inter IKEA you will proactively and reactively support the business throughout the value chain, guiding and advising on product safety and liability, with the purpose of fulfilling IKEA obligations and minimizing the risk of administrative fines, product liability claims and litigations worldwide. You will proactively and reactively support Inter IKEA management and Range Areas in guiding and advising on product liability and safety matters related to consumer products and food.

We are looking for a lawyer for the position as Product Liability Leader

As a a lawyer in this field you will support IKEA Franchisees to secure and coordinate mandatory notifications to consumer and food safety authorities and advice during product development and product risk assessments, actively participating in accident evaluations, implementing corrective actions within product or food recall processes. Support the business globally in handling product safety and compliance related investigations and inquiries and Inter IKEA and IKEA Franchisees in handling product liability claims and litigations on a global level.

You will provide input on relevant product liability, safety, compliance and consumer legislation during product development and product risk assessments, to create a better everyday life for the many people. You will be also responsible for securing and coordinating mandatory notifications to consumer product and food safety authorities worldwide, and support IKEA Franchisees in handling product liability and safety matters.

Support Inter IKEA in product liability, safety, and compliance matters, related to consumer products and food and be responsible for product liability, safety, and compliance advice to the management, including the Product Risk & Deviation Council process and various decision meetings.

Furthermore, you will be:

  • Drafting (and signing in defined situations) official IKEA statements to authorities related to product safety and liability.
  • Cooperate with Inter IKEA Legal, Requirements, Risk Management, Public Affairs functions regarding product liability and safety matters.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and collaboration with other internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Risk & Compliance topics in different forums, trainings, and meetings and share knowledge and best practices across the value chain.

To succeed and shine in this role,  we wish you ta have a law degree and excellent knowledge of national and international framework of product safety, liability, and consumer legislation. Knowledge of food safety law is a benefit. Speak and act according to strong moral principles and IKEA values.

You are strong in communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build networks with different parts of the business and individual stakeholders. You also can have an entrepreneurial approach together with being analytical, conceptual, and structured using facts and knowledge and to persuade, influence, and motivate stakeholders in a positive way while discerning different interests, agendas, and perspective. Experience with working within the area of product liability, safety, and compliance and good business negotiation skills.

Finally, we wish you to have following qualification:

  • Good knowledge of IKEA main business processes and the IKEA value chain.
  • Good communication and soft skills. Ability to communicate with different target groups with different competences and experience both internally and externally. Fluent written and spoken legal English.
  • Risk management experience.
