Job Description

About the assignment:
We are strengthening our simulation driven product development at IKEA of Sweden, with one FEA Engineer in RA Children’s IKEA Range.

The purpose of the role will be to get innovative and robust products faster to the market by optimize designs, predicting product performance and validate behavior with a minimized reliance of physical prototypes during product development. The responsibility includes:

  • Use implicit and explicit non-linear finite element analysis to predict product and solution behavior.
  • Use CAE (computer aided engineering) tools, such as topology, topography, shape, and parameter optimization, in order to optimize products and solutions.
  • Establish and validate material models and parameters needed for FEA simulations.
  • Create test methods including load cases, boundaries and safety factors that fulfill the need in a reliable and fact-based way.
  • Establish and maintain working methods and routines for FEA simulations and their results.
  • Together with test engineer, verify calculation and FEA simulation results with real product and solution tests.
  • Co-operation with external partners, such as industry partners and University within the area of expertise
  • Contribute to the simulation network within IKEA.

A strong sense for creating structure, effective prioritization, and work in the unknown paired with excellent communication and influencing skills. This position evolves around the transformation to a more simulation driven product development approach: this requires a constant desire for renewal, a skilled eye for where improvements are needed, follow through and make this change happen while creating togetherness and enthusiasm. Qualifications

To be successful in this role we would like to see that you have:

  • At least 5 years of experience from working with structural linear and nonlinear analysis methods, as well as verification testing
  • Proven knowledge within material modelling
  • Good knowledge in associated software’s, we use Hyper mesh and LS Dyna
  • Ability to develop good technical reports and guides
  • Basic knowledge in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge within statistical methods and design of experiments
  • University degree in engineering or equivalent
