Master thesis – On-line vision-based anomaly detection
- Intern
Company Description
IKEA has an ambition to inspire and enable more than 1 billion people to live a better everyday life within the limits of the planet.
We want to offer affordable and accessible solutions for healthy and sustainable living through home furnishing solutions, knowledge and ideas in all customer touch points. This project aims to investigate machine learning based methods for anomaly detection in the production process.
Job Description
Right now, we are looking for one or two M.Sc. students for a thesis project.
Manufacturing and production processes sometimes fail to different degrees, leading to errors in the produced products. Today, it is therefore common to introduce automated visual inspection tools in the production line. This project will investigate how machine learning based anomaly detection techniques can be employed to improve the detection of errors/faults using input from vision sensor systems.
In this project, you will:
1. Carry out a literature study and summarize the state-of-the-art in the field and what technologies are available.
2. Select a set of models and libraries supporting the development of an experimental platform for evaluation of selected anomaly detection algorithms.
3. Implement an anomaly detection system and by demonstration evaluate and compare to existing techniques.
4. Author a report summarizing the results and an outlook towards future developments within the field and what could potentially be developed in the future.
Qualifications
You are a motivated student with a strong background in machine learning, and computer vision or computer graphics, from a M.Sc. educational program in, e.g., computer science or electrical engineering. You should have a deep understanding of and experience of programming in Python and C/C++.
We work in a multi-national group and environment where we communicate in English.
Fluent spoken and written English is therefore a requirement.
Additional Information
We offer you some time to work in the Spatial Computing lab in IKEA where you have the opportunity to make an impact on future technology trends. We offer flexibility in location and working hours, so you can be located anywhere in Sweden and working part-time or full-time (with deliverable timelines adjusted accordingly).
During your thesis you will have a dedicated IKEA Supervisor.
If you have any further questions about the thesis contact IKEA supervisor, Imran Muhammad, [email protected].
Submit your application together with your personal letter in English latest 15th of October.
Thesis will start January 2024. We look forward to working with you to build up knowledge on healthy and sustainable living!
To take part of the Thesis work, you must be enrolled in a thesis course provided at university level/Thesis agreement with a university in Sweden.
