What is the role all about?
The Product Lifecycle Engineer plays an important role in our business and is responsible for taking care of and maintaining our products. It is through our product we secure our mission at IKEA: “To create a better everyday life for the many people”. As Product Lifecycle Engineer you have a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many people, around the globe.
By securing that our product documentation is up-to-date and connected, you make sure that we can sell our products to the many people. You will be key player in building up our library of constructed fabrics and textiles that are used throughout our comfort and textile range, from sofas and beds to curtains and blankets. In other words, you will create and document standardized fabrics and textiles with a goal to ensure a seamless integration into our new product lifecycle management system.By this you be in the forefront by learning the future ways of working and creating product information in IKEA (this work has recently started), as well as supporting this substantial transformation.
You see, for us to sell our wonderful products, we need have correct and complete information in our system, otherwise we lose our steering points. This is where you come in: You will be part of creating and documenting standardized fabrics and textiles that can be used by our development teams when they develop new products. You do this in close dialogue with our different product categories, development partners and suppliers, so we hope you enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and being part of the action. To succeed in your role, you need to be able to take and give responsibility, lead yourself and work together with stakeholders from different functions and departments throughout our organisation.

Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are an Engineer in the beginning of your career, with a university degree in Textile Engineering or equivalent. If you are having some experience in working with product development and/or creation and maintenance of product documentation it´s a plus, as well as experience in fabric and textile production techniques and processes. You work in a structured way with analytical skills and to take the lead in your own work, as well as in your contacts with internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, you have strong communication skills and building good relations based on trust. IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English both verbal and written.
