Job Description

We are now looking for two students that can do their Thesis for Future Renewable Textile Materials at IKEA.

The thesis research will be centered around renewable, sustainable textiles and innovation opportunities.

The following should be included in the research: 

  • Renewable textile innovation mapping
  • Readiness levels of innovations
  • Sustainability evaluation of the innovations
  • Suitable IKEA textile applications for the innovations

The expected deliverables from the research findings and recommendations are: 

  • A short report  
  • A presentation

Objectives and deliverables to be further detailed and decided together with the students.

Your report and research will further support our internal decisions and as a student you would be contributing to IKEAs future renewable Textile Material offer.

Qualifications

You are a motivated, self-going and curious while zooming in on the details. You have experience in researching complex topics and summarizing that research in simple ways.

We want you to do the thesis during the spring term 2023.

Prior knowledge about sustainability, renewable textile materials and supply chains is welcome, but not necessary.

Additional Information

We offer you a couple of months in the Material and Innovation team at IKEA of Sweden where you can make a long-term impact for people and planet. We offer flexibility in location and working hours, so you can be located anywhere in the world and working part-time or full-time (with deliverable timelines adjusted accordingly). During your thesis you will have a dedicated mentor.

During the initial weeks into the thesis, you will have introduction rounds to some key teams, functions, and ways of working at IKEA of Sweden, as well as have any administrative needs for carrying out the work arranged.
