We are now looking for a Business DevelopmentManager (BDM) forthe Food Category.
As BDM you will be part of the global Category Management Team for Protein based food products and lead the food purchasing business and people in northern Europe. 

Food is a key driver to attract visitors to IKEA stores. Category Area Food, together with internal and external partners, provides the food sold and served in all IKEA Restaurants, Bistro´s, Swedish Food Markets which 500 million guests are enjoying in 49 markets. In Category Area Food, we lead and execute the global purchasing agenda, including material direction, responsible sourcing and the quality compliance agenda for the food range in IKEA. Today we are almost 200 colleagues who work globally while being located across Europe, North America, Asia and other regions in order to be close to our supplier partners.  

We onboard and work together with our suppliers as partners, with whom we build and develop long long-term relationships. We work together to deliver on healthier and more affordable and sustainable food to the many. IKEA is filled with curious and passionate people getting energy from influencing, interacting, and working together with others, to deliver great business results. 

Job Description

As Business Development Manager you act as an ambassador of IKEA values. You focus on people development and business development, constantly looking for improvements.  

You will actively contribute to the development of the long-term Category Business Plans. The objective is to deliver excellent results in purchasing by team-leading and to establish long-term business development with suppliers. Additionally, a significant part of your assignment is to inspire and empower your co-workers to perform at their best, and to develop and grow! 

Business agenda 

  • Set business direction and clear Action Plans that deliver to the overall Category Plan  
  • Develop existing and new suppliers/partnership to meet the needs of the many people today and in the future 
  • Optimize the value chains to create better products at lower total costs to reach more of the many customers 
  • Secure compliance to relevant working methods and industry regulations 
  • Deliver excellent business results to meet goals
  • Establish cost budget and secure that resources are used in an optimal way to support business goals 
  • As part of the Category Management Team, contribute to the development of the Category Plans and future strategy 
  • Act as IKEA ambassador and role model for fact-based business leadership

People agenda 

  • Lead a diverse multifunctional team; inspire, empower, motivate and support them to perform at their best and to continuously develop in their assignments 
  • Lead the competenceagenda for your business team; including recruitment, development, performance management and succession plans for co-workers in your team
