For many years, IKEA has been making the everyday life better for the many people. Inter IKEA core business franchise own and distribute the IKEA concept to the franchisees as an enabler so the retailers can be successful selling entities.

One very important part of the future puzzle of IKEA providing IKEA contextual knowledge from IKEA concept, home furnishing knowledge, life at home knowledge on the IKEA retail sites is the knowledge graph which we need to high performant and well tested as it will be used by so many customers facing digital solutions such as web, mobile app and in store digital solutions.

Job Description

We are now looking for a student that can write their Master thesis at Inter IKEA Systems B.V. from January to June 2023.

The Thesis work focuses on software testing and comparing an existing industry approach to an IKEA-developed one. Your job is to design and run software tests with which you objectively find out if the IKEA-developed software is meeting performance standards.

Within core business franchise, this master thesis work is within the area of retail experience from both how IKEA want to present and sell our range according to the IKEA business model, but also as the customer want to explore and find the range

The to-be-tested software is part of building the IKEA Knowledge Graph – a key technology to drive customer experiences in the digital space. The software takes in traditional data formats such as CSV or JSON and transforms them into a connected network form enabling better querying and more understanding of a customer’s context online.

While your task is to test the software, you will also get the chance to learn about knowledge graph technology – a fairly new approach in artificial intelligence.

The students would learn the following things:

  • Software Testing
  • Developing software against requirements
  • Working in an agile manner
  • Knowledge graph technologies
  • Understanding general enterprise data needs and technologies

Qualifications

A curious mind can do wonders!
We are looking for a master’s student in the field of computer science. Prior knowledge in semantic web technologies is seen as a plus!
