IKEA Marketing & Communication AB is hiring a 3D Technical Developer to join IMC 3D centric solution. We work at the intersection of visual communication and 3D technologies to support our business with the best solution to create communication for the many people.  

Working with 3D in IKEA is a co-creation, from product development to cutting edge 3D artistry, deep learning, and research. Our goal is to make computer graphics scalable to reach the many. What makes us special, is that our business demands quality that needs to last a decade; a real challenge. In order for that to happen, we need to be at the center of setting industry standards. What you will do: 

Define the future way of working around 3D, from the first idea to a sellable product. As a part of the IKEA core 3D team, you will contribute to build our future 3D platform, serving the needs of development, supply and marketing equally.  

Act as a leader for some of our 3D platforms, ensuring that external and internal partners build solutions that fit our overall strategy. Be both a leader and an active contributor to core functionality with software development and architecture. 

Help define overall plans and define key technology pillars.  

  • Create template solutions that clearly show best practice implementation 

  • Identify and understand business needs and translate them into actionable projects  

  • Clearly communicate input expected from business and what output they will receive 

  • Act as a technical expert when dealing with 3rd party suppliers 

  • Act as a lead developer for our core 3D solutions 

Qualifications, what you will need: 

A genuine passion for 3D and digital communication, driven both by solving an end-to-end need as well as deep diving into specific problem areas. Finding fulfilment and happiness, sharing and developing colleagues and peers, explaining solutions and constraints for non-3D co-workers and solving complex problems as part of a team. 

  • Deep understanding of computer graphics, offline and real-time, as well as asset pipelines 

  • Proficient user of common 3D scripting languages such as Python.  

  • C/C++ knowledge 

  • Knowledge of 3D Rendering / render farm processes and render techniques such as distributed rendering, texture baking and mesh simplification  

  • Capability to identify and prioritize the high-level initiatives in such a way that development is following our set-out strategy while still delivering incremental progress that can be implemented into the running business. 

  • Ability to communicate IT-related topics both in a clear and simple way (business language) and technically detailed for development briefing

  • Proficient user of git/cmake 

Knowledge of the following is a plus: 

  • Unity 3D or Unreal 

  • DCC programs such as 3ds Max, Houdini or Blender 

  • USD 

  • Containers 

  • Cloud vendors such as Azure, AWS and GCP 

  • CI/CD
