Job Description

As an Engineer in the Prototype shop you create prototypes and provide support in technical challenges within the product development process. You will be responsible to translate the expectations and needs from requests and drawings to create and develop prototypes that demonstrates the product design and its characteristics. In this way you will truly contribute by bringing expertise knowledge regarding construction, material, production, and quality into the process. You work cross functional within your area, and we expect you to share competence and experience in the interaction with other specialists. You will work within a team characterized by a good atmosphere where there is opportunity to continuously develop your skills!   

You will work in a high paced, high-tech environment where the latest equipment such as CNC routers, 3D printers, Laser-cutters and other sophisticated hardware and software are part of your available tools. Togetherness, inclusiveness, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving as well as curiosity are our driving forces.  

Qualifications

We consider that you have the practical engineering skills together with specialist knowledge within the specific material area, in this case metal. Expected from you is a high ability and drive in creating innovative practical solutions in the form of prototypes, as well as contributing to creative discussions regarding possible solutions in the component or product development project teams.  
  

Furthermore, you need to have:   

  • Proven knowledge from using tools, machinery, and equipment for metal  

  • Proven ability and experience from working with CAD and digital machinery   

  • Experience from a manufacturing industry or a production setting   

  • Since IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world you need to be fluent in English  
      

As a person you are open and curious with an innovative mind! You have the ability to organize and take responsibility for delivering upon set goals. You have a genuine technical interest, curiosity and experience of construction and reading technical drawings e.g. CAD and measured images. You are a true problem solver, and you always have the business and the customer in focus.
