In IKEA Industry, Manufacturing development department grows unique manufacturing capability for long-term competitive advantage. Material, product and automation development & innovation activities are organized in Development Arena and its global development centers.

Automation development department in Development Arena has assignment to develop & innovate automatic solutions in manufacturing for sustainable competitive advantage. Working closely with technology suppliers, colleagues from digital development, many product engineers, research institutions and global manufacturers entire lifecycle of automation is covered – from identifying business case – until installation and through continuous improvements improving work conditions for many co-workers.

Job Description

In the position of Industrial engineering leader at IKEA Industry expectation is to work with latest advances in digital production and further developing manufacturing processes in high-performing sustainable production systems.​

Role:

Industrial engineering leader role is to apply tools and methods in order to holistically optimize manufacturing processes by designing, developing, verifying, improving and implementing integrated systems of people, knowledge, information and equipment. Industrial engineering leader assignment covers global manufacturing operations.

In this position in Automation development department – Industrial engineer will work closely with business and engineers – providing support focusing not only on doing things right – but also doing the right things, for example automating a bottleneck to unleash additional capacity.

Industrial engineering considers design from system perspective with focus on seamless flow of material, people, knowledge and data based on IKEA Production System (IPS) foundations.

This includes leading development projects as well as managing improvements of such systems in full operation in close cooperation with industry experts, product development and several of the collaborating companies and research institutions.

To exemplify, Industrial engineering leader should orchestrate individual machine and its technical development into an efficient systematic interaction with flow capacity, knowledge capacity, people capacity, data capacity and organizational capacity with constantly shifting balance/bottleneck between those capacities

Location for this position is flexible, it can either be based out of any IKEA Industry units or at IKEA Industry office in Zbąszyń, Poland. Please note that we have published this job opportunity in multiple countries and location, however there is only one open position.

The position requires global travelling (+60 travel days yearly).
