Are you our new Requirement & Design Engineer?

IKEA Components is looking for a Requirement & Design Engineer who would like to work with mechanical design within our great team of Engineers within retail equipment. The base in your work will be to work with mechanical design.

As a Requirement & Design Engineer (RDE) you will be responsible for develop products within the retail equipment range in different materials and functions from concept sketches to final product. You will be responsible for improvements of the current range and creating range plans for better products and to be a development partner to IKEA product development functions within selected product ranges. Then you will lead both new developments as well as maintain and improve existing ranges based on Democratic Design and steer new product development towards selected standard and shared solutions. 

You will take ownership for selected area/s of range, material, or technology. Verify the area´s performance according to democratic design during development and its documentation during the complete life cycle and identify applicable requirements and when relevant, develop customer-based requirements and verification methods. 

All with the purpose to exceed customers’ expectations by providing a great range of solutions and products and identify and manage safety and technical risks during the development.  You will also initiate and perform development test and develop test methods when required.

Furthermore, you will also be responsible of/to: 
o    Manage appointed range, material, or technology.
o    Lead and execute projects within appointed area for new development and improvements.
o    Create, visualize, and optimize the mechanical design related to set product requirements.
o    Initiate and perform development test and develop test methods when required.
o    Identify and manage safety and technical risks during the development.
o    Develop, identify, and maintain standard solutions.
o    Perform basic Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis such as static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and optimization including act as interface towards FEA engineers.
o    Ensure a qualitative, complete, and relevant documentation and keep it up to date during entire lifecycle.

Finally, we wish that you to have/to be: 
•    Five year’s work experience in engineering
•    University degree in engineering or equivalent qualification
•    Good analytical skills and a pro-active and problem-solving approach
•    Experiences of FEA engineering and simulation
•    Good communication skill
•    Fluent in English, both written and spoken
