Category Area Electronics & Home Accessories (CA EHA) within IKEA Supply, is responsible of sourcing a variety of products from qualified manufactures, that span from kitchen appliances, lighting & home smart solutions, to tableware and home decoration accessories. CA EHA is a big family with nearly 280 co-workers in 17 different locations, 9 purchasing categories and more than 250 qualified supplier-partners operating across the globe. We are passionate about life at home, sustainable & healthy living and technology applied to the home environment.

We are now looking for a new Sustainability Developer to join our team of highly competent and motivated sustainability professionals to boost the sustainability journey within our Ceramic, Glass and Candles purchasing categories and secure that our business generates a true positive impact on both people and the planet.  

Job Description

As Sustainability Developer of these purchasing categories, your job will be about:

  • Setting plans and implement actions to reduce and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions generated by manufacturing operations at supplier-partners
  • Identifying energy/water efficiency benchmarks for key processes
  • Identifying opportunities for improved energy/water efficiency and quantify savings
  • Supporting supplier-partners implement or strengthen energy/water management systems at their manufacturing facilities
  • Helping supplier-partners and business leaders finding solutions, opportunities and incentives to transition to 100% renewable energy sources
  • Motivating and engaging supplier-partners to continuously improve their operations towards advanced and excellent standards
  • Investigating supply chains of key products and materials cradle-to-gate to identify, mitigate and prevent risk and secure due-diligence
  • Supporting business leaders and supplier-partners securing traceability of key materials
  • Sharing knowledge and boosting stakeholders’ competence development within your area of expertise
  • Leading sustainability focused projects in line with the Category sustainability plans
  • Follow-up and report on action plans and targets

Together with the business leaders in your assigned units, you will be responsible of leading, deploying and developing the sustainability plan of these three categories. You will work together with business leaders, business developers and supplier partners, turning the category sustainability plans into actions to be deployed in the businesses, at the production facilities of business partners and through the supply chain of products and materials.

You will report to the Category Area Sustainability Manager and be a member of the Ceramic, Glass and Candles categories Management Team. You will also be a member of the Global IKEA Sustainability Development Matrix Group contributing to the overall development of the IKEA Sustainability agenda.

Qualifications

MUST

  • Previous work experience or sound knowledge related to energy management and energy efficiency within energy-intensive manufacturing sectors
  • Strong knowledge in the climate field, international policies, reporting schemes, industry-wide initiatives, and programs towards a low carbon economy
  • Ability to navigate in renewable energy markets, understanding dynamics, trends, incentive schemes and opportunities for the industry
  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health and Safety schemes within the manufacturing sector
  • Excellent communication skills and ability of building trust, enabling change, engaging, influencing, and inspiring stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken

GOOD TO HAVE            

  • Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sustainability education
  • Water management, Effluent Treatment Plant knowledge
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with traceability methodologies and responsible sourcing schemes
  • Familiarity with raw materials climate footprints and LCA methodologies
