Job Description

About the Role

“The product range - our identity” is one of the most important capabilities to ensure that our product range offer lives up to the IKEA vision. Designer plays the important role to secure and strengthen the IKEA identity throughout the development and design by:

•Act as a specialist resource and a team member in the Product Development teams working end to end in develop new products process and managing within the deadlines

•Create unique designs for IKEA with democratic design in focus, Design for flat packed, platforms and standardized material and for optimal use of material and production setups, enable the lower cost in the product development projects.

•Create prototypes, sketches, renderings and communicate the concepts and product ideas to the teams and stakeholders, Develop the products on the factory floor, store floor and home floor.

•Support and empower colleagues within both Design and all IKEA to contribute their creativity in all IKEA product development

•Curious about new challenges, life at home and peoples changing dreams and needs, cultures and collaborative by nature.

•Passionate for working with different people (internally and externally)

•Extensive knowledge, experience and feeling for home furnishings; customer needs, design, style and trends and life at home , as well as the form and functional aesthetics of design

•Familiar with designing products in different styles, from modern to traditional, as well as a good understanding of  Scandinavian design and cultural heritage.

•Curious and with passion for trying out new things and seeing them through from the initial idea to production. Broad knowledge of product construction and production techniques (design for cost consciousness), solution oriented.

•Able to work and deliver many projects simultaneously under time constrains.
