Water is one of life’s most important resources in economies, eco-systems and societies. Today our world faces challenges of too little, too much and polluted water and we can see water crisis’ occurring more frequently around the world.

In order to meet these commitments, IKEA is deepening its analysis and evaluation of water used in our value chain. For same, capabilities need to be developed for scenario analysis and simulation of future development, tools to measure the impact of actions.

Right now, we are looking for Strategic Business Analyst – Water (1 yeas assignment). With your personality, data expertise, and analytical skills you will build the capability to visualise and measure the impacts in our business and enable us to reach our sustainability ambitions.

Job Description

As Strategic Business Analyst - Water, your responsibility is to build further on the impact assessment done for water to analyse future scenarios under different conditions in the IKEA value chain and developing user friendly tools to measure the changes in a way that enables different parts within the organisation to use it, thereby enabling needed decision making and action, such as development of strategic priorities, goals and road maps to secure impactful responses to the findings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development of scenario analysis - calculation of impact in reference to different variables and scenarios. Propose hypothesis in reference to 5–10-year time horizon (based on the best available data)
  • Lead the development of simulation tools for water in identified part of the IKEA value chain. The simulation tool should be user-friendly and automated (as far as possible).
  • Modify and simplify the existing database structure as needed to suit the simulation tool.
  • Support in ongoing developments of different follow up tools from context of water and explore future needs
  • Map the relevant business intelligence systems and propose steps for future integration of the scenario and follow up tools into same.
  • Create as-is mapping of all ongoing projects connected to sustainability.

You will be placed in the Sustainability Development team supporting Core Business Range and Core Business Supply.

Qualifications

We are looking for an analytics enthusiast with a passion for creating a positive impact on people and planet by empowering our business to shape the water agenda for IKEA Core Business Range and Core Business Supply. Enjoying working in an environment where from time-to-time there are more questions than answers, you are comfortable with finding fact-based answers and solutions inside as well as outside IKEA.

You should have an education background in Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Management or a similar degree. We believe that you have outstanding analytical skills in data and complex systems and with your holistic approach as well as an eye for detail you are able to propose actions and structure perspectives. You are fluent in both written and spoken English as well as possessing advanced Microsoft Office skills, e.g. Excel and Power BI as well as a knack for developing intuitive user interfaces. As water is complex topic, experience and knowledge within the area would be preferred.

You have experience in business navigation and steering within a complex company setup. You are able to slice and translate multipart matters into simple and practical solutions and examples in a business context and you can present data it in a simple and accessible way for the many. You are solution oriented and capable of finding ways forward when and where necessary system support or material data are not available. You are a team player and you enjoy working together with many different stakeholders but are also able to move things on your own. With your indirect leadership skills and enthusiasm to move things forward, you lead and influence and develop the competence of our organization.
