Job Description

The Creative Strategy & Planning team lead the communication development agenda at IKEA Marketing & Communication, always ready for the needs of tomorrow. Leading with a customer-centric mindset and the aim of strengthening the IKEA brand with a positive impact of the business. Right now, we are looking for a Creative Leader with an editorial background to complement the team and support new ways of working with the editorial plan and calendar.  
As a Creative Leader you will:

  • Be responsible for setting the long-term creative direction of communication development, always with a customer-centric approach. 
  • Enable and coach creative core teams and individual creatives to support the development of high-end creativity. 
  • Initiate, lead or support the creative processes during all phases to final product. 
  • Secure that communication is based on insights, knowledge, and life at home, providing value for our customers. 
  • Be the foremost ambassador of the IKEA Tone of Voice, Visual identity, and Brand guidelines & frameworks. 
  • Take the lead in developing the field of creative leadership; tools, models, processes, and competence development that supports efficient working methods and succession. 
  • Develop and maintain relations and collaboration with stakeholders. 
  • Take leadership by creating preconditions that enables inclusion of perspectives and competencies, co-worker engagement and togetherness. 
  • Support as a creative partner to other IKEA businesses and external creative partners. 
  • Act as a role model regarding IKEA Culture, Values and Code of conduct. 

Qualifications

Our Creative Leaders are people with a visionary capability, constantly inspiring and instigating. People that bring strong creative leadership skills; in visual, digital, or written communication. People who have a holistic view, are creative and imaginative with the ability to come up with great ideas. People with a sharp business sense and understanding of the business and consumers’ situation and needs. People who want to coach creative teams. People motivated by exploration and that can spark an innovative and idea driven culture that enables co-workers to explore and share ideas, reinvent designs, and develop working concepts through teamwork and cross-functional collaboration. 
You'll need: 

  • Education or working experience in communication, art, or visual communication or equivalent, in an international setting. 
  • At least 5 years’ work experience within the area of concept development, communication design, visual design, shown in personal portfolio.  
  • Robust understanding and experience of editorial planning and how all content and communication components work together.  
  • Strong brand development & creative concept knowledge. 
  • Excellent understanding of how to make the idea come to life by guiding creative work through execution. 
  • Knowing how to effectively lead groups, brainstorms, building on the ideas of others, to get the best results. 
  • Excellent coaching skills. 
  • Understanding of the IKEA communication direction, the assignor and customer’s situation & needs, and how to approach with creative content. 
  • Strong life at home and home furnishing knowledge/interest. 
  • IKEA concept, brand, values, copy and visual identity, tone of voice, organisational setup, matrix lines, business processes & owners. 
  • Deep knowledge of visual design, layout, typography, and consumer behaviors. 
  • Fluency in English, spoken & written.
