Right now, we are looking for two Product Engineering Managers to join the amazing engineering team!  

One will lead a team of mechanical design & packaging engineers, and one will lead a team of requirement and product design engineers. You will be joining at an exciting time, where we are gearing up for new ways of working in a digital landscape to become an omnichannel retailer. The engineering function in KBA consist of 50+ engineers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Job Description

The BA Product Engineering Manager is a business and people focused role in the centre of IKEAs product development. Your assignment is to lead and develop the Range & Product Engineering specialists within Business Area Kitchen, Bathroom & Home Appliances as well as leading cross HFB topics and secure excellence in operations.

You do this by allocating the right competence at the right time in both development and running operations. At Business Area Kitchen, Bathroom & Home appliances we work with a wide range of product types, diverse requirements and certification schemes and have high focus on securing a qualitative, compliant and functional offer across all markets.

The BA Product Engineering Manager reports to the BA Range & Product Engineering Manager and is part of the All-managers forum in KBA.

Further more responsibilities include contribute to the Business Area strategies and business plan. Secure and optimize the allocation of relevant Engineering Specialist resources in the Development & Life Cycle Management. Succession planning and recruitment of Engineering specialist competence and develop and secure the right competence level for each co-worker.

As a Product Engineering Manager, you will lead alignment of working methods across teams in the BA dimension. You will also identify and brief gaps in working methods and system solutions with a cross functional perspective and you will lead BA Engineering Specialists.

Qualifications

To shine in this role, we believe that you have a University Degree in Engineering or equivalent. You have thorough knowledge and proven experience in IKEA’s product development and in business development, and you understand the full IKEA value chain and how to create preconditions for an efficient development that will reach our targets. You have a strong drive to make things happen and lead complex matters in a global context with energy and curiosity. 

Leadership comes natural to you, and you have a proven track record of leading, coaching and developing a group of Engineering Specialists or similar. You are always guided by the IKEA key values and you can lead in times of change through communication and creating strong and trustful networks and relationships in collaborative processes. You know how to motivate people and make them perform and deliver towards set goals and on time.

You also have the interest and ability to coach team members during the product development journey and get inspired by improving ways of working and you understand the importance of communication and enjoy operating on a global arena.

You have the ability to explore different perspectives, welcome innovation and dare to challenge when needed. You have excellent communication and networking skills and are motivated by continuously improving ways of working.

Additional Information

The position will be based in Älmhult with occasional global travelling. In this role you will have 10-15 direct reports.
