Job Description

We are now looking for 1 student that wants to write their Master thesis at IKEA of Sweden from January 2022

In order to meet these commitments, IKEA is deepening its analysis and evaluation of water used in our value chain by using life cycle analysis (LCA) and existing LCA databases. In particular, IKEA is exploring the water used for raw material sourcing which is the largest user of fresh water in our value chain. Building on our initial evaluations and existing data sets, IKEA is seeking 1 Masters’ thesis student to deepen our understanding, improve the data we have today, and support us in identifying gaps if any and find solutions. This analysis aims to capture the impact of both virgin and recycled raw material sourcing.

The deliverables are:
1. Compare the supply chain of IKEA key raw materials with the data set that we have been using, identify the gaps and make suggestions to fill the gaps.
2. Recommend other established data sets available on water measurement that are suitable for IKEA.

Purpose of the assignment
The purpose of the assignment is data verification for water consumption in the raw material and the identification of potential new data sets.

Qualifications

The students should have a background in Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Management or a similar degree. They should have understanding of LCA analysis, and experience working with data. The student should have a passion for sustainability topics, in particular, water. The students must have English fluency.

To take part of the Thesis work, you have to be enrolled in a Thesis course provided at university level/Thesis agreement within a university in Sweden.
