Right now, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who together with us will
strengthen the IKEA product offer.
Job Description
You are an important contributor in the creation of our new products and solutions to deliver the best customer experience and quality, at the lowest costs. You take a stand in important matters and you are willing to challenge known patterns.
You will be responsible for:
- Develop the mechanical design of products with different materials and functions in the bedroom range, from concept sketch to final product
- To apply IKEA’s Shared Solutions, standard components and materials
- To secure that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design
- To develop, document and maintain the digital 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to IKEA CAD Standards
- To evaluate constructions with Calculations and (FEM) simulations together with our in-house FEA-experts before testing on prototypes
- To be the main contact with IKEA of Sweden prototype department
Qualifications
- We believe that you are highly committed and self-driven person.
- You have probably studied Mechanical Engineering.
- You have experience of working in product development in different kind of materials and production methods, it is very good if you have experience from- or interest in product verification and validation.
- You have very good competence in 3D CAD engineering and a good understanding of FEM analysis and basic structural dimensioning.
- Knowledge in SolidWorks is an added advantage.
- You can work with product documentation, even when it becomes repetitive, and you can also be very practical and make things happen with your bare hands.
- You are a problem solver with strong communication skills with the ability to build relations.
- In your mind a failure is just another idea that did not work out and you are not afraid to try, again and again.
- You have a passion for details, and you are motivated by working in a rapidly changing environment.
