To support us on this journey we are opening a position for a Print Developer to strengthen our team in Älmhult. As a Print Developer you will contribute to the development of patterns within the total IKEA offer. It is about secure the production and documentation, all according to the set plans within our Range & Design direction.

Job Description

As a Print Developer you support Product Design Developers, making production-ready repeats, artworks and colourways out of ideas and sketches from designers or studios. The starting point can be a hand painted, unrepeated scan, an old printed textile, an Illustrator repeat or a 15-layer Photoshop file with alfa-channels and everything in between. You will adjust the patterns for various products and materials (e.g. textiles, paper, glass, etc.), you will change colours, repeat sizes, make the repeat flow and ready for production. The work is both creative and technical with a lot of problem solving and will engage all parts of your brain.

Qualifications

You have knowledge in and passion for home furnishing, product development, design as well as deep knowledge in production and materials. Furthermore, you have extensive experience and technical knowledge in how to use applications and tools in pattern development. This means you know all about pattern repeats and what it takes to make them work all the way from sketch to finalized artworks. You also have extensive experience and deep knowledge of working in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Experience in Fashion Studio or similar is qualifying. Working as a Print Developer you have the ability to independently run multiple projects in a structured way from start to finish. This requires great ability in time management and problem-solving where you can keep the calm. You draw from thoroughness, flexibility, and creativity in how to do things in a smarter and more effective way. You have a curious and open-minded personality and take pride in working with patterns made by others.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Bachelor/master in Textile print design, Graphic design, or equivalent knowledge and experience in design work
  • Deep knowledge in applications used in this area e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Fashion Studio or similar
  • Extensive knowledge of printing production techniques for various products and materials
  • You are going to work in a highly international environment; therefore we expect you to be fluent in English, both spoken and in written

Additional Information

You are going to be part of a team of 18 in-house Designers based in Älmhult which might require some long-distance travelling.
