Job Description

We have an opening in our Data & Analytics (D&A) Delivery team for a product owner for our tools for metadata and data lineage. Inter IKEA is currently in the process of purchasing and installing/integrating these tools, and it has been decided that they should be owned, developed, and maintained by the D&A Delivery team. The current and future Inter IKEA data landscape will be constituted of a multitude of data assets – on-prem and in the Cloud. This hybrid infrastructure will require substantial work in terms of streamlining metadata, so that business users can access the same type of information on the data, irrespective of the data type and origin. The vision is particularly important in our ambition to obtain “data democratization” – to make data available, accessible, and usable for the many people. To support us in this information management undertaking, Inter IKEA will use cross-system and cross core business metadata and data lineage tools.

This role will be key in achieving the envisioned goal. In the product owner position, you will work in a highly collaborative team to devise solutions to business challenges, bringing your skills and ideas into every discussion. You will lead the agenda for the metadata and data lineage tools, making sure that their development and maintenance are on par with industry-standard and at the same time aligned with requirements from the Inter IKEA core businesses.

Taking on this Product Owner role you will, for your associated tools:

  • Arrange recurring meetings with vendor(s) and key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with technical experts to set best practices and ways-of-working.
  • Support business users in best practices and ways-working etc.

Additionally, you are expected to:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and operational know-how to support projects and solutions with conversion of data related business requirements into data architectures and technical solutions.
  • Be responsible for solution compliance with rules and standards (e.g., information security), legal and regulatory requirements as well as adherence to relevant delivery process standards.
  • Document and make the operational know-how of the data infrastructure and engineering solutions available for the IKEA ecosystem and ensure awareness around available data.
  • Ensure cost conscious and maintainable development.
  • From and information management point of view, take lead on data privacy and security questions relevant for the D&A platforms/data.
  • Based on the need and your availability, take on additional Product Owner and Project Manager assignments on various topics in and around the D&A domain.

Qualifications

We believe that our new colleague has experience in working with data governance. Ideally, you have experience with metadata and data lineage tools, such as e.g., Alation and Manta. Knowledge in ETL development, data engineering and/or IT architecture is beneficial. You should have a good understanding of on-prem/cloud/hybrid infrastructure. You should also be well acquainted with typical benefits and challenges of working in an outsourced environment. Furthermore, you need to have experience in working in agile setups and be comfortable in taking prioritization decisions. Organization and planning skills are key qualifications for this role, and the exposure to stakeholders and vendors will require a confident leader personality.
