About the role in general

As a  Data Engineer (Backend) you combine solid data engineering, software development and data integration skills. Your main stakeholders will be the solution owners, product owners and colleagues within the finance and business performance (analytics) areas of business support. Things you can expect to do in this role, but not limited to:

  • Work on several data integration and engineering related activities in the finance and business performance (analytics) areas
  • Work closely together with partners, peers and other relevant roles like data scientists, analysts or architects across Inter-IKEA as well as in your team
  • Assess business requirements for completeness and accuracy and determine if requirements are actionable for ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Load). Work with business/solution owners to close issues and gaps
  • Lead the development and validation of data integration (ETL) pipelines needed to ingest/transform data to and from transactional systems and warehouses
  • Advise and help functional / business-focused members of the team to understand our technology landscape and act as a technical subject matter expert in areas of data integration and data engineering
  • Develop communication content (e.g., release notes) in line with the business, users, and solution needs
  • Continuously maintain and improve (DevOps) process/solutions. This includes implementing, testing, documenting, and communicating change requests and enhancements
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose potential issues with data pipelines
  • A contributing role in managing and maintaining our data visualization platform might become part of your assignment. We do not expect you to already be a subject matter expert on this topic

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate we expect you to have minimum 5 years of data integration experience and the following capabilities:

  • Extensive Knowledge of SQL and Python
  • Experience in working with cloud-based data warehouses and data engineering platforms such as Azure data bricks, Azure synapse analytics
  • Experience in working with modern cloud-based integration platforms such as Snaplogic, Confluent Kafka or packaged products is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in building ETL pipelines from structured and unstructured data sources
  • Knowledge of integration concepts and design patterns – e.g., XML Schemas, SOAP, WS, REST, Managed file transfers
  • Experience with Integration, API management/Gateway and microservices patterns
  • Extensive knowledge of Data Management concepts. Technical knowledge in database design, data models, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Hands-on experience using DevOps tools like Git, Jira, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to turn preliminary or ambiguous information, ideas, or problems into well-defined plans and solutions
  • Ability to readily combine complex architectural environments
  • Knowledge of data modeling and visualization with BI tools like PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau
  • Good knowledge of financial and management reporting directly applied in daily practice

This is a full time role  (40 hours per week) located in Delft, The Netherlands. You will report to the Business Solution Area manager. 30th September is the closing date to apply for this role.
