Job Description

At IKEA Franchise we are responsible for ensuring that the IKEA Concept is continuously developed to lay a solid foundation for a modern IKEA Brand. Integral for us is to ensure that our (digital) offer to franchisees remains relevant amidst the fast technological development currently changing everyday life and challenging the face of our business. This is a highly innovative task that requires that we find new ways to innovate, and use innovation, together. The last couple of years, we have been working extensively within the area of Spatial computing and Visual intelligence, both in exploration cases as well as in the real world. Our findings are clear: the impact of this area will only increase over time, and it belongs in the IKEA experience. Spatial computing and Visual intelligence are so much more than curious features; they are likely to become vital to the concept across the entire IKEA value chain, not least in the shopping context. We have gone far with this early technology already, but we are only getting started: Now is the time to truly scale our effort by establishing a new platform area of Spatial computing & Visual intelligence ensuring relevant, scalable, long-term and reliable services and solutions based on the needs from of franchisees and across the IKEA value-chain.

About the job
Come and join us as Tech Lead in these exciting times! Be part of establishing the platform area by evolving existing solutions as well as work closely with our innovation teams operationalizing and scaling new global solutions  fit-for-purpose for +50 markets around the IKEA globe as well as for internal product teams.

Your job as Tech Lead in practice is to steer the product development from technology point of view, own the solution architecture and to ensure right technical governance. You will mentor the software engineers and work very close to the Platform Area manager and similarly be responsible for the backlog that concerns Spatial Computing and Visual Intelligence.

On a day to day as a Tech Lead you will do this and more:

  • Taking lead in securing the technical roadmap
  • Responsible for the architecture of the platforms, making sure that technical and non-technical components work together and create a holistic whole.
  • Have the responsibility to make sure the technical aspects of the platform area work and deliver to the customers needs.
  • Lead and hands-on contribute to the digital development and operations side of the platform area
  • Make sure that the overall technology and architecture roadmaps and frameworks are being considered in different decisions.
  • Identify and manage inclusion of reusable assets from other products or platforms into the product and architecture.
  • Work closely together with partners, network of expertise, peers and other relevant roles like data engineers, data scientists, or architects across IKEA as well as in your team.
  • Collaborate with our innovation teams ensuring technical guidance during the exploration phase enabling future scalable and re-usable components in line with overall architecture.

About you
You’ve been working in the technology field for several years now and have good understanding of industry trends, digital development and spatial computing and/or visual intelligence. As a person you like working in an agile, entrepreneurial environment and have the ability to embed a culture of agile ways of working and continuous improvement, encouraging simplicity, efficiency, ownership and accountability.

You have the curiosity, passion and energy to learn and develop every day. You are appreciated for your interest in current and future technical solutions in the area of Spatial Computing, 3D visualization, Visual Intelligence, your ability to see the customer benefit of every choice and your holistic view of the technology roadmap and different complexities.

You are coaching leader with strong capability to communicate, mentor and inspire and a genuine interest in working with many different people and building strong relationships and networks.

You will bring experience in digital technology, digital infrastructure, IT services and digital steering frameworks. You have good understanding of end-to-end digital platform development and operations and of architecture frameworks, aspects and design. You use this knowledge to ensure scalability, re-usability, compliance in the architecture and design of new solutions.

Additional information
It is a full time position (40h/week). Travels may be required in the future. The position is located in Malmö, Sweden or Delft, Netherlands.
