Job Description

As a mechanical design engineer you are an important contributor to the creation of our new products. You contribute to solutions that deliver the best customer experience and quality, at the lowest cost. We believe that you take a stand on important matters and you are willing to challenge known ways and patterns in order to create an even better solution.

Your responsibilities will be:
• Develop the mechanical design of products with different materials from concept sketch to final product
• To apply IKEA’s Shared Solutions, standard components, and materials
• To secure that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design
• To develop, document and maintain the digital 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to IKEA CAD Standards
• To evaluate constructions with Calculations and (FEM) simulations before testing on prototypes
• To be the main contact with IKEA of Sweden prototype department

Qualifications

You probably have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. We believe that you are highly committed and self-driven person, and you have previous experience of working in product development in different kind of materials and production methods.
You are skilled in 3D CAD engineering and has a good understanding of FEM analysis and basic structural dimensioning. Knowledge in SolidWorks is an added advantage. Moreover, you can work with product documentation, even when it becomes repetitive, and you can also be very practical and make things happen with your bare hands.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be an important member of the technical team working with product development and product improvements of the range. As a person, you are goal- and delivery oriented a problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to build relations. You have a passion for details, experienced and motivated by working in a changing environment. The world is fast changing and of course as a company we aim to adapt and grow together with it!

You are a curious person and get inspired by creating products that meet the expectations of our customers. IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore we expect you to be fluent in English both verbal and written.
