Job Description

Do you want help us create smart home products that will shape the future life at home for millions of people? Do you have an interest for the requirements during the development process of physical products? Then you should join us as our new Product Lifecycle Engineer (PLE). 

As a PLE you work in close collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders involved in the project during the whole development process, from beginning to the end of the development of a product.

The Product Lifecycle Engineer (PLE) is a key role for our engineering team, with responsibility to take care of and maintain our products. Your main tasks will be administration, documentation and following up on certification activities, as well as taking part in and leading compliance projects. You will help to secure that product information is up-to-date and according to IKEA documentation guidelines and standards. You will be the one who are identifying gaps in product documentation and non compliance.

In a day in the role as a PLE you will:

  • Support to define and initiate regulatory assessments
  • Work closely with third party tests labs and IKEA representatives throughout the world
  • Responsible to perform moderate changes on products including technical requirements, labels & markings etc.
  • Initiate and track that all certification tests following time schedule and are finalized successfully before product launch for all IKEA sales markets
  • Be part of requirement/regulatory forums to create/interpret regulatory requirements

Qualifications

We are looking for you who enjoy working with product development and have an interest in making products sellable. You have experience from creating innovative solutions and a great user experience in the area of the IoT products. You know how to work in a structured way in a changing environment.

Furthermore you are a true solution oriented team player, who are good at building trustful relationships with others (e.g. supplier, test-labs) to secure that products are right from the beginning and meet all requirements. You value good administration and finding ways to establish order and deliver results. You have high entrepreneurial drive, you stretch boundaries and dare to challenge what already exists and always strive to develop better products and solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations.

You bring with you:

  • To succeed in this role we see that you have a background in technical/engineering administration
  • Relevant experience from the IoT/Electronics/product development Industry/Product certification/IEC standards/CBScheme
  • Familiar with working with product certification
  • Knowledge and insights into requirements management and PLM systems
  • Capability to have a holistic view across the different technology domains
