Job Description

About the role  

The role of sustainability at the franchisor is to make sustainability an integrated part of the IKEA Concept and ensure its successful implementation in new and existing markets. 

Our assignment is to: 

  • Secure a successful, consistent and relevant experience of IKEA in relation to sustainability across all customer meetings, developed together with Range & Supply, all IKEA franchisees and Ingka as a main partner. ​  
  •  Lead, enable and contribute to a common and IKEA unique way to attract consumers to the IKEA offer and activate and convert visitors into customers  

Your key responsibilities are: 

  • Lead the sustainability dimensions of Present & Sell development agenda in collaboration with the Shared Strategic Initiative Leaders and enable a successful implementation on all markets.  

  • Lead sustainability dimensions development within modular retail system, including guidelines, solutions and examples for how the IKEA offer is presented, promoted activated and sold across all customer meeting points. 

  • Develop and lead the road map for sustainability integration in Present and Sell Conceptual deployment and development.  

  • Secure sustainability knowledge development in Present and Sell team by defining performance gaps and areas for potential development.   

  • As content expert identify learning needs and contribute to the development of learning offer for all stakeholders across IKEA.  

  •  Lead and contribute with sustainability expertise to various development initiatives that creates value in the meeting with the customer, leading to business impact across IKEA and unique competitive position in all markets  
  • Enable commercial success and operational excellence by enabling sustainability to be part of methods and tools that support inspiration, planning activation (buying desire) and delightful shopping experiences.   

  • Lead the integration and promotion of sustainability as enabler for a better homes and better living together with peers.   

  • Create prerequisites and enablers to drive interest for, attract and activate customers to healthy and sustainable living through inspiring and relevant solutions and delightful shopping experiences throughout all channels.   

  • Safeguard the IKEA Brand and support business success through following up on the performance connected to IKEA Concept and sustainability. Ensure constant business improvement by capturing learnings and initiating actions.  


  • Recent experience from working in a global multichannel environment.  

  • Minimum 5 years of senior experience from working with strategic sustainability.  

  • Documented experiences of working with sustainability development and deployment in a fast pace global retail environment    

  • Proven advanced training in Sustainability  

  • Proven experience of driving successful change and realizing sustainable business benefits  

  • Proven experience from working as subject matters expertise together with business leader 

Additional Information

This is a full time role (40 hours per week) located in Delft, the Netherlands or potentially in Malmö, Sweden. You will report to the Present & Sell Manager.
