About the position
We are looking for a Data Engineer to successfully work with us in creating a data foundation in our digital journey.

As a Data Engineer you will be part of a product team within business support, leading the creation, development, and maintenance of (digital) finance products that enable stakeholders from the IKEA value chain and Franchise system to steer the organization based upon financial insights.

You work to enable the analysts, data scientists and solution specialists to efficiently gather, manage and use data. You are involved in shaping the data sets needed for successful analysis and are comfortable with using modern ways to transform and curate the data. You lead the creation of data sets and make sure they can be efficiently worked with in a modern cloud based environment.

You work with your product team every day, but especially with solution specialists, architects and finance solution focused colleagues to provide the team with the data needed to efficiently deliver to the product roadmap. 

In your role as a Data Engineer you will:

  • Be part of a small product team and work closely together with relevant partners, peers and roles across IKEA.
  • Drive all aspects of collecting, integrating, analyzing, modelling, processing and refinement of data
  • Gather and address technical and design requirements.
  • Build, test and maintain data systems and pipelines.
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives in collaboration with Product Team and other stakeholders.
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.

About you
As the ideal candidate you have:

  • Hands-on experience with database design in varying concepts.
  • Expertise with data modelling and related concepts, incl. relational, non-relational and multi-dimensional modelling.
  • Knowledge in programming, preferable of Python, SQL programming languages.
  • Knowledge about cloud infrastructure and computing environments.
  • Knowledge in DevOps ways of working and agile development practices.
  • Data engineering, software development and data integration knowledge.
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree within Engineering, Computer science, Information Systems or Mathematics

We also believe that you have a combination of the following capabilities and motivation:

  • Great numerical and analytical skills.
  • Team player and good communication skills.
  • Proactive problem solving and navigation through “road block” and obstacles.
  • Able to work closely together with colleagues with complimentary skills, e.g. data scientist, business analysts etc. across Inter IKEA Group.
  • Experience designing efficient, robust and automated data pipelines and ETL workflows
  • Preferably previous experience working with Data Engineering
  • Experience as a member in agile environments and methodologies
  • Motivated by being a key contributor to digitalize the IKEA Franchise offer and the IKEA Concept.  

Finally, as a Junior Data Engineer you have the right background and ambition to learn fast. We don't expect you to tick all the boxes here above but you show the right base, positive energy and motivation, and sharp insights to learn on the job. As Inter IKEA Systems is an international company with a global scope, fluency in the English language is a must.

A few more details for you
This position is fulltime (40 hours per week) and is located in Delft, The Netherlands. Travelling may be required based on business needs when Covid-19 measures are lifted. You will report to the Business Solution Area manager. Please note that we will be interviewing continuously, which means that we may close the application process earlier than stated if we find the right candidate.
