Job Description

We are on an exciting journey for the years to come. We will strengthen the way we work with Food Consumer Packaged Goods and the Range Design Leader role is an essential part of that. We want to create customer success with our offer focusing on price and quality, design and function, sustainability and health. Based on clear consumer insights we want to continuously challenge and contribute to the IKEA range and the Food and Life at Home movement. We want to make IKEA truly market relevant, understanding the need of the consumer and by that generate growth and a great customer experience. The Range Design Leader role is part of the Consumer Packaged Goods team and reports to the Business Leader. The position will be based in Malmö.

As Range Design Leader in Consumer Packaged Goods – CPG, you will

  • Lead the building of the product range offer and manage the product range plan for the assigned range area. The offer should be both commercially strong and have a complete range and product offer delivering to creating better food for more of the many people and the planet as well as the IKEA unique identity.
  • Lead the transformation of knowledge and insights and bring consumer intelligence into the Business Plan and portfolio to make it actionable on range level and in the creative process.
  •  Contribute to the portfolio definition and prioritization for CPG and secure that the overall health and sustainability direction and range principles are well integrated in the NEWS development agenda and RUNNING range revision.
  • Be responsible for creating and visualizing the range movements for CPG as part of the Business Plan process and take part in the identification and co creation of strategic range design stories.
  • Set the range frame and working methods connected to range governance including ways of working with market specific range.
  • Work across HFBs (Home Furnishing Businesses) in order to identifying common business opportunities.
  • Be responsible for involving the development teams in creation of the NEWS and product plan and together with all members of the Range and Product team also create preconditions for the teams to develop better products delivering to all dimensions of Democratic Design.
  • Be the sponsor for some of the development projects, coaching and supporting the teams in searching for new solutions and ideas with ambition to meet the project ambitions and goals.
  • Be the line manager for the Product Design Developers in CPG and coach to deliver the projects according to the approved Action plan.

Qualifications

In order to be successful in this role you come with great knowledge in exploration and ideation methods and have insights in current food trends, movements and customer needs. You have extensive knowledge in the area of food ingredients and production. You understand the IKEA vision, Democratic Design, the Product Development process, the IKEA business model and value chain, as well as having a good understanding of the IKEA Food business. You have a great interest in the IKEA Food journey and are highly motivated by developing, engaging and inspiring a network of relevant competencies to build and develop the best possible product range offer.

The ability to lead teams to take decisions and move forward in the creative process of product development, is obvious. You have excellent leadership capabilities with the ability to lead and implement change and nourish a creative environment. You are great in building trustful relationships, cooperate with different people and units and working both on a strategic, tactical and operational level. You manage uncertainty in a complex context and you are skilled in prioritizing, taking decisions and delegating. You take great joy from developing and coaching people.

Furthermore you are good at communicating, visualising concepts and ideas and you know development both at the factory and shop floor. You are driven by creating an offer that is affordable for the many people while safeguarding the IKEA identity and you are not afraid to stretch boundaries and challenge what already exists.
