Product Development Platforms is a business unit within IKEA of Sweden that has the assignment to contribute to a richer and smarter product offer by providing a head start in Product development. We identify, develop and deploy platforms which span across multiple range and product segments such as storage and comfort platforms, finding scale advantages and lowering costs significantly. These are savings we can pass on to the customer. Platforms are also a key enabler for reaching our sustainability goals outlined in our IKEA direction.

As a Product Design Engineer (PDE) in the Comfort Platform (Sofa/Beds/Mattresses) you will work with the latest technologies and materials, develop smart innovative solutions together with great people in and outside the Platform team. This is something for you if you are ready to move IKEA range in a broader context beyond only product level. You will be developing new architectures and solutions within comfort area and are part of setting the future roadmap. As the technical lead in the team, you are involved in setting up the development project, you are accountable for all deliverables and secure that the projects are delivered on time. You will be joining a great team, always pushing boundaries with smart solutions, simulation tools and strong verification approach. Delivery, leadership and working with people have a large focus in this role.

We are looking for you who have development experience and deep knowledge in the area of Sofa, beds and/or mattress products, as well as good knowledge from production and material point of view. Most likely you have worked in a business area or working close with suppliers in this category/sourcing area. You have knowledge and interest in this kind of products and what is important for the customers. You know how to lead the product develop in an efficient way based upon senior experience of technical project leading or similar roles to the PDE.

As a PDE you probably have:

• Experience in a product development for Sofas, beds and/or mattresses
• University Degree in Engineering or similar
• Excellent communication skills that allow you to build strong relations with multiple stakeholders
• Passion to lead innovative projects with a problem-solving approach

You are truly motivated in finding and creating the best technical solutions for our customers, at the right quality and price point, keeping in mind the design and sustainability objectives.
