Job Description

IKEA Concept is constructed on three main pillars, the IKEA product range, IKEA Retail System and IKEA trademarks, trade dress and other distinctive features focusing on what makes IKEA unique and still for the many.

The IKEA Concept Description team documents the IKEA Concept and related information for reference and effective use by the IKEA franchisees As we are moving towards becoming an omnichannel retailer, the knowledge and systems and methods are changing and evolving too. We are now looking for candidates to join our team as Concept Description Specialist.

The work aims to ensure always relevant and up-to-date conceptual knowledge to be available for all IKEA co-workers using different methods and media for generating engagement and interaction. Concept description specialists facilitate processes, bringing different competences and specialists together to create different enabler that will become a part of the IKEA Concept landscape. As a Concept description specialist, you understand the business as well as the co-worker needs to be able to act as a bridge between content specialists and other colleagues like communication specialists, learning designers, writers, editors and usability specialists to be able to land the most relevant content, in the most engaging way to reach the many co-workers whenever and wherever they need.

We value collaboration and working with different expertise around the topic bringing in different views and most importantly the needs of the co-workers to make their meeting with the customer as impressive as possible.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is willing and able to:

  • work in and across enterprise level organizations: Inter IKEA Systems B.V., IKEA of Sweden, Ingka and other retail organisations etc.
  • base your work on both specific and generic design and process knowledge: applying your existing knowledge and experience in human-centric design, digital content creation, and/or designing knowledge and learning solutions and learning the existing internal processes that help in your role.
  • enjoy collaborating with many different colleagues while adhering to your specific role within the bigger picture, always thinking about the topic in focus, its connections to other topics, competences to be brought in, and opportunities to test and try new approaches.
  • think and advise beyond own role being aware of the bigger picture: Improvement points for the category that you are responsible for, the content links between your category and others, overall IKEA Concept landscape, gaps and possibilities, things to try and test, new requirements from users to improve engagement…still with delivering to short and long term (business) results.
  • be really hands on, when it comes to interacting with your network to engage them in the right topics at the right time, to create information and also content flow in a more seamless way, to keep in touch with retailers and also other parts within the IKEA value chain to always seek for collaborations, to find opportunities to explore, involve, engage and deliver.
  • further develop yourself as well as supporting others in that, as a part of our team, you are as responsible as anyone else for your own development and contribute to the growth of the team. Sharing certain experiences you bring in with the team, being open to share and learn from each other should come easy.
  • be a fun, engaged and involved team member,  we are spread in two locations, the Netherlands and Sweden and we work with many different colleagues spread across many different countries. Transparency, vulnerability, sharing and caring are drivers for our team and how we work with others.

Additional Information

In this role, you report directly to the IKEA Concept Description Manager. That said, it’s critical to work cross-functionally with other colleagues and stakeholders in CBF and other IKEA organisations.

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and is located in Delft, the Netherlands, though some travel may be required (after the COVID-19 restrictions and terms are clear).
