Job Description

It is about leading the technical development in the product development process for sofas and armchairs, to secure creative, production adapted solutions to exceed customer expectation in quality. It consists of actively searching for information and knowledge contributing to technical development and share this amongst the product development team members and technical specialist.

The PDE is highly involved in defining, executing, delivering and maintaining the product development project as well as securing the right competence and resources from a technical perspective. Delivery, leadership, communication and working with people are a large focus in this role.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you need to be an excellent communicator, capability to make decisions in an ever changing environment and have a strong passion for people - to lead, manage and motivate. To achieve efficient, flexible, highly motivated and successful teams the PDE shows the way by stepping in not only leading but also doing engineering tasks depending on the need in the project and the portfolio. This means a broad rather than deep engineering competence profile is preferable. You are able to create togetherness by working with and through others, as well as stepping in and working hands on when the situation calls for it. An analytical mind-set in combination with a holistic view on strategic business decisions and the capability to build strong relations, trust and having fun with stakeholders and team members is essential. You will interact and work together with stakeholders from all around IKEA and the world. Our corporate language is English, so fluency both verbally and in writing is required.

We see that you have:

• University Degree in Engineering or equivalent

• Project Management (planning, execution, risk management)

• Product engineering knowledge (CAE tools, prototyping, documentation and verification methods)

• Democratic design and the IKEA Business Model

• Supply Chain knowledge (cost drivers, handling of goods and raw material)

• Product Area knowledge

• IKEA development tool portfolio
