IKEA has the ambition to reach 3 billion people that desire and can afford the IKEA offer and at the same time create a positive impact for people, society and planet. To be able to provide an affordable and available offer to our customers the logistics operations have to become even more efficient in IKEA. In order to achieve this automation plays an important role especially for repetitive internal transport tasks.
Therefore IKEA is interested in finding out how automated guided vehicles (AGV) and autonomous mobile robots (AMR) can be used in warehouses and stores to create a more efficient handling of IKEA goods. 

We are now looking for a person that can write  their Master thesis at IKEA Range & Supply from January to June 2021

Job Description

The aim of this assignment is to explore the available AGV and AMR solution on the market and identify future trends to be able to define the most promising use cases within IKEAs warehouses and stores

•    Research on AGV and AMR technology (technical background and state-of-the-art)
•    Create future outlook (swarm intelligence, IoT, Cyber-Physical Systems, AI, 5G, etc…)
•    Define the preconditions for IKEA to implement these solutions in warehouses and stores
•    Recommend most promising use cases and describe as business cases
•    Recommend roadmap for IKEA on how to introduce AGV and AMR solutions

Qualifications

If you are a curious, motivated and self-driven student with experience in researching complex topics and looking for a master thesis that builds the bridge between the latest AGV/AMR developments and their application in industry then this is your topic!

The wished start for this assignment is January 2021 to June 2021.
