Job Description

The Subject Matter Expert role is the source of knowledge within integrations technology. The main areas of responsibility will be to identify and life cycle manage service offerings, platforms and products in order to fulfill IKEA’s business requirements on information exchange capabilities. The role of Subject Matter Expert is based on the ITIL3 Product Manager and they have a lot of similarities. The job will also include the following areas:

  • Understand, articulate and implement best practices related to integration technologies.
  • Be advisory within the areas of the IT infrastructure landscape.
  • Provide expert knowledge within an international IT marketplace with focus on current market and technology trends.
  •  Be responsible for producing roadmaps for the integration product area.
  • Lead and manage initiatives within the integration area resulting in new or updated product portfolio or service offerings utilized by the IKEA IT landscape.
  • Be responsible for the relationships with IT vendors in the area of product and service offerings as well as identifying and evaluating new market opportunities.

  • Strategic thinking – able to identify a vision along with the plans which need to be implemented to meet the end goal, evaluating situations, decisions and issues in the short, medium and long term.
  • Analytical thinking - Able to simplify complex problems, process projects into component parts, explore and evaluate them systematically. Able to identify causal relationships and construct frameworks, for problem solving and/or development
  • External thinking - keeps up-to-date with developments in the outside world and considers challenges in the wider context.
  • Negotiation and influencing - proven negotiation skills, ability to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others. Demonstrates the ability to draw from a range of influencing strategies to persuade people to achieve agreement or behavioral change. Listens to other points of view to gain understanding.
  • Problem Solving - Able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts, explore and evaluate them systematically.
  • Capable of transforming proposals/ideas into practical reality.
  • Communication - able to get messages understood clearly by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of the information. Recognizes the importance of sharing information.
  • Managing relationships - able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people, including senior/executive level. Works cooperatively with others to be part of a team, as opposed to working separately or competitively.
