In this job you will be responsible for the management and development of a number of platforms and capabilities supporting and enabling our integrated digital business ecosystem through open APIs, inner/open sourcing, co-development and community collaboration within our digital landscape. Your daily tasks vary from operational maintenance to developing improvements, where you design and implement new concepts and technologies together with partners and stakeholders.  

These are a few of your responsibilities as Platform Engineer – Digital Enablement: 

  • Enable Dev/Ops culture and take ownership of technical tooling for observability, testing, deployment and configuration and collaboration including their life-cycle management. 
  • Ensure secure ways of working when providing Continuous Delivery as a Service (CDaaS) to the different business development areas within IKEA and the franchisees by creating a well-integrated, well-documented stack of cloud native services and relevant tooling using the mantra: “prepare and design once, use often”. 
  • Help autonomous self-serving teams consume our IKEA developer portal and CDaaS services uniformly, helping developers make the most of the resources, features and possibilities while minimizing variation across teams and ensuring that the business product team to only focus to delivering “business logic” value through their connected streams. 
  • Support in the design and lead the implementation of an architecture vision of an IKEA wide developer portal 
  • You will work closely together with enterprise architecture and serve as partner to the business development areas across the organization and IKEA franchisees by sharing your expertise regarding open APIs, re-usable digital component, inner-sourcing and portals  
  • Ensuring that the published APIs and re-usable digital components published into the portal are vetted and well documented so they can be immediately ready to be used securely and consistently across the IKEA organization and external partners.  
  • Be an ambassador of ‘API first innovation’, digital component reuse philosophy to product teams across the IKEA value chain and partners that interact with platform and digital components published on it in order to stimulate autonomy and innovation speed. 
  • Continuously looking for and adapting new fit for purpose technologies supporting IKEA developer community eco system 
  • Serve as partner to the business development areas in long-range planning about new or projected areas of technological research and advancements.  

About you 

You are an ambitious DevOps Platform Engineer who can maintain a holistic view in a dynamic environment. You are able to switch easily between the operational activities and new developments. If you have experience with DevOps/PlatOps, and are passionate about concepts like Open APIs, inner/open sourcing, co-development and community collaboration then this could be the right fit!   • Knowledge and experience from developing and managing CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Understanding of what it takes to deliver services and tools to a community of product engineers across our landscape. 
  • Have an engineering mind-set and ability to talk both very technical language as well as on tactical and strategic levels. 
  • Solid working experience in cloud hybrid environments with various exposure to SaaS, IaaS and PaaS deployment models and services, preferably with azure cloud platform and services. 
  • You pack experience and technical insight in multiple fields and disciplines. 
  • Curious and always willing to move the next technology, tools and frameworks. 
  • A good security mind-set with understanding on how to build a sensible and safe cloud native environments and platforms. 
  • Use pragmatic and entrepreneurial mind-set to adapt and adopt to the requests and requirements from the users 
  • Be joyful and take pride in what you create; we're a talented and diverse crew, lucky enough to be building something people really love. 
  • It’s a plus if you bring some hands-on programming and development experience in languages such as Java, Javascript, Kotlin or Python.

The position is full time (40 hours) and is based in Delft, The Netherlands. You will report to the IT Identity & Data manager.
