In the product development platforms we aim to develop platforms, new ways of working and whole new way of understanding the materials. In order to go further in these areas we need an academic eye to further build the expertise in our team. 

We are now looking for a person that can write  their Master thesis at IKEA Range & Supply from January to June 2021.

Job Description

The assignment is about developing the (new) way of working with different materials (soft materials) and characterize them based on their response to temperature and humidity. The work consists of the following parts
•    Understand the working of temperature and humidity sensors
•    Carry out the measurements in a controlled environment (climate chamber) and using sensors
•    Build an excel based application in order to post process the measured data
•    Arrive at the important parameters differentiating different materials
•    Prepare a detailed report with all the findings, material characteristics and future study scope.

Qualifications

A curious mind can do wonders!
We are looking for masters student in the field of mechanical, bio mechanical engineering with interest in the field of  Thermal analysis, material science, sensors and relatively conversant with excel or VB programming (preferred).

Additional Information

The thesis work needs to be performed in the premises of  IKEA of Sweden, with uncertainties due to COVID 19, it may happen that student still have to do a lot of work from his/her university. Initial weeks in to the thesis the student will be given an in-house training on software being used and the usage of any hardware.
