We are looking for a person that can write  their Bachelor thesis at IKEA Range & Supply from January to June 2021.

In some of our projects we reach points in the process where we miss relevant test method to assess the new product’s performance vs real life at home situations.
In those cases we often develop non-standard test methods, which is a way to explore the unknown and reduce uncertainty in our decision. 

Home test is one of the most frequently used non-standard test routine. A simplified handbook to home test could help many engineers to refer to statistically relevant home test procedures that have clear acceptance criteria. This will lead to better decisions, better products and confidence in decisions based on home tests.

Framework:
•    This project shall be developed based on case study IKEA product developments.
•    The proposed guidelines and routines shall be based on science of statistics.

We wish the student to find:
A simple guide for engineers to design home test procedures 
(recommended number of participants, how should be selected, spread of life situations, duration, acceptance criteria, other recommendations).
 
The guide shall represent a condensed set of recommendations that a development engineer or requirement engineer can easily refer to and formulate a basic home test procedure (or similar non-standard test routine) without needed to dive into theory and literature.

As a person:
You have the passion to explore life at home and how it relates to engineering dilemmas.
We see that you have a interest in science and statistics.  You have a willpower and the ability to inspire and create togetherness and enthusiasm around you.
You have an academic degree in engineering or other studies which has involved statistic tools.
