PURPOSE OF FUNCTION
The purpose of the Sustainability function in the Category Area is to lead and support the implementation of the IKEA Sustainability strategy, People & Planet Positive.

PURPOSE OF JOB

Support the business development teams to set priorities, develop and implement common action plans with suppliers to meet sustainability goals, in line with Category Plans, within specific areas of expertise (e.g. energy, water, waste, recycled materials etc..)

 

Job Description

For a specific Category Area;

  • Support the business development teams to set priorities and develop common action plans with suppliers to meet sustainability goals, in line with Category Plan.
  • Support the business development teams in the sustainability assessment of potential new and existing suppliers
  • Lead and/or support sustainability related supplier development projects in alignment with category plans and priorities
  • Motivate suppliers and business development teams to continuously identify new sustainability related business opportunities
  • Support business development teams in implementation of global sustainability working methods, tools and IT- systems;
  • Responsible to collect, verify, aggregate and report the Category Area suppliers sustainability data (i.e. SISU, Scorecard) and provide relevant analysis to support business decisions
  • Be an active member of the relevant Global Matrix Group and contribute to the sustainability agenda development by leading and/or contributing to global development projects
  • Facilitate sustainability related trainings for co-workers and suppliers;
  • At any time, act as an ambassador of IKEA values and Role Model for Fact-based Business leadership.
  • Capture synergies across categories and share good practices throughout the organisation

Qualifications

  • Passionate for the sustainability agenda and vision that IKEA has
  • Having the manufacturing and engineering background
  • Strong project leadership and communication skill with English and Chinese
  • Good knowledge of IKEA Strategic Landscape, especially Purchasing and Sustainability Strategies
  • Good knowledge of how your everyday work adds customer value by delivering to Democratic Design;
  • Deep knowledge of industrial set ups and specific sustainability challenges relevant to the Category Area;
  • Good knowledge of the IWAY Standard and IWAY related working methods;
  • Deep knowledge of relevant Home Furnishing Business plans, Category Plans and Total Cost;
  • Knowledge of IWAY and compliance related IT systems;
  • Knowledge of Social and Environment Management Systems (ISO 14001, SA8000, OHSAS etc.);
  • A specialist of at least one selected sustainability area;
  • Very good knowledge of Project management tools
