Job Description

You are an important contributor in the creation of our new products and solutions to deliver the best customer experience and quality, at the lowest costs. You take a stand in important matters and you are willing to challenge known patterns.

You will be responsible for:

  • Develop the mechanical design of products with different materials and functions in the bedroom range, from concept sketch to final product
  • To apply IKEA’s Shared Solutions, standard components and materials
  • To secure that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design
  • To develop, document and maintain the digital 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to IKEA CAD Standards
  • To evaluate constructions with Calculations and (FEM) simulations before testing on prototypes
  • To be the main contact with IKEA of Sweden prototype department

Qualifications

We believe that you are highly committed and self-driven person. You probably have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering. You will be an important cog in the technical team working with product development and product improvement of the running range. You have experience of working in product development in different kind of materials and production methods. You have very good competence in 3D CAD engineering and a good understanding of FEM analysis and basic structural dimensioning. Knowledge in SolidWorks is an added advantage. You can work with product documentation, even when it becomes repetitive, and you can also be very practical and make things happen with your bare hands.

You are a goal- and delivery oriented a problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to build relations. You have a passion for details, experienced and motivated by working in a rapidly changing environment.

IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English both verbal and written.
