The Intralogistics organisation is responsible to establish, lead, support and develop logistics solutions for the various IKEA units that have a logistical and fulfilment component, including the development and innovation agenda of intralogistics at IKEA global. In practical terms, Intralogistics shall lead and educate in creating concepts, processes and solutions for IKEA Handling and Storage as well as to act as centre of expertise for all establishments of logistics units around the globe. The organisation is in strong lead towards a more mechanical and automated goods handling.

Job Description

About the job
The home of this position is with Business & Product Development within IKEA Intralogistics. This department develops automated logistics solutions for the full IKEA Supply Chain. This role will play a crucial part in making sure that the machines and robots that are being fully in-house developed have automation software/programming that is optimized and scalable.

As a Product Developer you´re responsible securing the functional engineering and quality needs to deliver logistic solutions by optimizing all aspects. You will also be accountable for the performance and safety of a machine/system regarding all electrical or mechanical (technical) aspects throughout the lifecycle. You will be accountable to verify the final technical solutions based on customer needs and technical requirements.

About the assignment
As the Product Developer you will among other tasks:

  • Responsible for developing framework and library functionality supporting solution implementation in Intralogistics logistic systems
  • Responsible for troubleshooting library functionalities
  • Responsible for documentation of product / solution
  • Responsible for integration with Intralogistics software
  • Contribute from a technical perspective into design / choices of constructions, components, production, test, quality and maintenance
  • Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by other departments to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function
  • Secure first batch and first delivery inspection of solutions
  • Travels are included periodically in this position

Qualifications/Knowledge

  • PLC Programming. Experience with PLC-programming in Structured Text is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with motion control
  • Experience programming in modules and working with code reusability
  • Knowledge of automation equipment and components (experience with B&R Automation equipment is meriting)
  • Version management (Git)
  • Experience from being automation-, application- or commissioning engineer, preferably for several years
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to travel during commissioning phases of machines that have been developed
  • (Meriting) Experience with integrated safety
