As Development Leader you will lead the long-term strategic development of more sustainable and innovative textiles for IKEA. This work provides a head start and unleashes the potential of outstanding development of our textile products, fulfilling all aspects of IKEA Democratic Design.

About the assignment
You are part of the Product Development Platform team in Range & Product Innovation. Together with your team and collaboration partners, you always strive to work closely with the Business Areas in order to understand the business and the consumer needs and turn these into solutions.

Some of your most important tasks will be to:
• Lead the textile agenda and be part of defining the future textile offer, as well how IKEA works with textile product development.
• Creating a better foundation for textile product development by leading development and implementation of the textile platform across IKEA.
• Develop more sustainable fabrics, e.g. from recycled polyester and wood based fibres and make these available to the HFBs.
• Pre-develop fabric libraries giving a head start to the HBFs, unleashing the design potential and shorten the time for products to hit the market.
• Develop new lower cost fabrics, enabling us to reach more of the many people.
• Explore and introduce new innovative textiles with new functions enabling a better everyday life for the many people.
• Be an integrated part of final fabric development across all HFBs.

You will in your role creating direction, alignment and commitment across organisations towards set goals and objectives. You will be leading competences within engineering, product development and industrial design on the business agenda (these roles report to Range & Product Development Manager and Range & Product Engineering Manager).

About you
You come from working within Textiles and are eager to contribute to Textiles in a new way. You believe in the power of innovation with a clear ambition to make things better, searching for new simple and smart solutions. With the ability to lead through communication you create strong and trustful networks and relationships.

We believe you also have/are:
• Knowledge, experience and understanding of the customers’ dreams and needs.
• A naturally strong leader with proven experience leading diverse competences.
• Strong ability to lead development through exploration, creativity and ideation
• Strong ability to think strategic and make things happen
• Highly self-motivated and forward thinking person who is always asking questions to challenge convention
• Strong ability to identify development opportunities contributing to innovative and profitable business
• Good knowledge and understanding of the IKEA Value Chain and the development process.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in driving strategic, tactical and operational initiatives through organisations

You will report to Product Development Platforms Manager, Mathias Jansson.
