About the job

As a Business Developer, you will develop and implement common action plans with your supplier partners, delivering excellent performance in running operations and building professional long term business development. You will also identify and act on new purchasing possibilities in order to secure optimal sourcing set-up.

 

About the assignment

Being a Business Developer, you will be overall responsible for supplier performance and relationship.  Among other things, you:

  • Pro-actively identify and negotiate with suppliers to provide the best pricing (from a total cost perspective), serviceability and quality, leveraging tools such as commodity trends and market conditions

  • Are responsible for building professional and long-term relationships through the IKEA way of doing business, based on a shared business model, trust, and transparency

  • Professionally challenge suppliers to constantly improve all aspects of supplier performance according to supplier action plans

  • Lead SDP identification process to create and implement action plans together with suppliers which delivers to the Category Business Plan

  • Develop and manage strategic initiatives that monitor and improve Supplier performance

  • Pro-actively work together with HFBs (Home Furnishing Business Units) to integrate opportunities and act on deviations to Sourcing Assignments

  • Partner with suppliers to continuously increase the competitiveness through new purchasing possibilities such as new technology, new material and/or production techniques

Qualifications

About you

You are able to establish and develop high performing and diverse supplier base which can meet the needs of our Business and customers. You have a high interest in understanding the markets we are working in, as well as the reality of production. Additionally, we believe that you:

  • Have good finance knowledge

  • Are able to perform and respond in an extremely fast paced, flexible, team-oriented, and collaborative environment

  • Demonstrate the capability to build trust and relationships in order to build long-term business partnerships

  • Have the desire to find new business opportunities and make it happen through engaging and motivating people

  • Take interest in people’s life at home; energy, drive, and commitment to deliver better products for the many people

  • Are willing to travel as required (up to 50%)

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree (required) or Master’s (preferred) - (Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other relevant degree)

  • Must be detail oriented, highly organized, resourceful, and work well within a team environment - Ability to initiate, communicate and take action to resolve issues with both internal and external key stakeholders

  • Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data efficiently and expeditiously

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced Excel Skills preferred

  • Able to adhere to and maintain ethical business standards, make unbiased business decisions

  • Have experience with RTA (Ready to Assemble) Furniture production (preferred)
