About the job

In IKEA Purchasing, we are organized in categories based on the material and function of the product. A Category is a group of articles sharing same materials, production techniques, and/or supplier base. Each category is led by a Category Manager and it consists of number of Business Development teams based around the world and global functional specialists.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for one or more business teams and are a part of the Category Management Team. For this specific position you’ll be responsible for 2 business teams (one in Prague and one in Bucharest). Your teams are responsible for the Category supplier base in central and south Europe.

About the assignment

Business Developer Manager will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities such as:

• Overall responsible for the business team and suppliers performance

• Set the business direction with clear Action Plan(s) to improve and develop business and supplier performance, and deliver to Category Plan

• Accountable for professional and long term relationship with suppliers through IKEA way of doing business, based on a shared business model, trust and transparency

• Together with the Deputy Category Manager, assign business to different suppliers in order to secure optimal sourcing set-up

• Secure compliance to IKEA Purchasing Manual and other agreed working methods

• Identify and start-up new suppliers according to business needs through the business development team and/or by giving assignment to New Business teams

• Have the Business developer assignment for at least one supplier (not necessarily the biggest one)

• As part of the Category Management team, actively contribute to the development of the Category Plan and Category strategy

• Lead and/or contribute to projects on behalf of the overall category

• Contribute to identify and act on cross-regional synergies & opportunities

• Responsible for recruitment, development, performance management, retention and succession plans for co-workers directly in her / his team (s)

• Responsible for driving Leadership and Competence agenda: Identify needs and gaps, and build leadership and competence plans to meet the short and long term business needs

• Responsible to establish her/his cost budget and continuously secure that resources are used in an optimal way to support business goals

• At any time, act as an ambassador of IKEA values and Role Model for Fact-based Business leadership

About you

With your analytical and holistic view you lead the business, always acting with the Customer, supplier, total IKEA and Quality in mind. You have the ability to lead on an operational/tactical level with the business strategy in mind. You perform analysis and are able to draw conclusions to support the right business decision. You have the ability to deliver results through involving, leading, developing and inspiring people in a remote environment, acting like coach and a mentor. You are a good communicator in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate clearly and in a simple way.

Location and reporting

The position will be located in Prague, Czech Republic and report to the deputy Category Manager Carbon Steel.

This role will require extensive travelling
