ABOUT THE JOB

This poistion will see you work closely with the development team and suppliers. You will be responsible to develop, document and improve the mechanical engineering solutions based on Democratic Design and product requirements. This position is ideal for those with a passion  about creating the best technical solution for the customer at the right price with the right quality, beautiful design and focus on sustainability

We look for people who continuously push the boundaries in terms of innovation, value, sustainability and simplicity in our product development processes. Delivery on time and within budget is a big focus in this role

ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT

  • Your role as a Mechanical Design Engineer is to be responsible for developing product construction to all aspects of Democratic Design by applying Design for Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Logistic, Cost, Assembly and Sustainability. Your goal is to develop and adjust construction solutions to meet needs and changes in Supply Chain, sales solution or selling pattern, based on input from commercial and supply chain competences. Meanwhile, you will be responsible for creating 3D and 2D drawings and verifying the product construction solution during the development phase.   You will be also responsible to identify and manage technical risks during the development and development test initiation and execution.

  •  Be highly motivated to work with a team  and great at building strong working relationships and partnerships.

  •  Fluency in English (both spoken and written)

  •  Able to handle large amount of documents in the organized way, under a pressure of the time and workload with attention to the details

  •  Good in following up on tasks, willing to challenge others and execute.

  • A great love, curiosity & deep knowledge about life at home and customer needs.
  • A great understanding of the IKEA Democratic Design principles and a good knowledge about home furnishing the IKEA way.
  •  A passion and ability to explore different perspectives, think outside the box and be comfortable in the unknown.

  • Sound theoretical and practical knowledge about construction, mechanical tolerances, drawing technique, 3D modelling and material knowledge, as well as relevant tools
