Purchasing Development is a business unit within Purchasing & Logistics, with a global organisation consisting of 9 Category Areas (for Home Furnishing, Food and Indirect Materials & Services), Wood Supply & Forestry, Business Development Project Office and a number of Business Partners.

As Purchase Development Manager you are the equivalent of a Chief Procurement Officer and you will be a key contributor, leading Purchasing development for the whole IKEA to reach our ambitious plans for the future. You are responsible for a total spend of 17 billion Euros and leading an organisation of about 1400 people. You will report to Global Purchasing & Logistics Manager, Henrik Elm and will be based in Älmhult.
We have an exciting agenda ahead of us for Purchasing Development and you, together with the leaders of your units and Business Partners, will be leading development and implementation of plans, setting priorities and building alignment with other partners in the value chain in order to reach common goals and priorities. Your key responsibilities also include leading and supporting common and improved ways of working. You will be part of Purchasing & Logistics management team as well as leading your own management team covering all category areas, Wood Supply & Forestry as well as Business Partners.
You will be expected to lead a strong people agenda. Contributing to secure values driven, talented, competent and high performing leaders and co-workers across the matrix and within purchasing development function, keeping them inspired and empowered to perform to the best of their abilities and continuously working with development in their assignments and as individuals. Together with business partners you will work towards creating excellence in operation and availability at lowest cost.

It is an advantage if you understand the IKEA Planning Concept and Supply Chain and we count on that you have supply chain experience from various roles in or outside of IKEA. Your eagerness to build trust and partnership to reach common goals is significant.
To be successful in this role we believe that you have;
- Experience from leading senior leaders and developing people from both a matrix and organisational perspective within a global organisation
- Solid knowledge of customers, suppliers, materials, production flow, capacity planning and supply chain cost drivers
- Excellent English communication skills
